When people debate the same-sex marriage issue it's a guarantee that at some point the names Adam and Eve will show up in the discussion.
For some reason people think that "Adam and Eve" are the ultimate example of traditional marriage and at no point do these debates ever consider that other people may have been married in Biblical text (such as Abraham and Sarah)

What really amazes me is the fact that if "Adam and Eve" represent traditional marriage, then traditional marriage is pretty lame.
At no point in the Adam and Eve story is the word "marriage" used. What's even better is the fact that the word "LOVE" isn't used either.
So basically a forced arranged marriage where love is not an issue is the true Adam and Eve story...but somehow that never comes up!

The words "love" and "marriage" do not show up in the biblical text for another 20 chapters and most likely are a reference to other couples and yet it's the forced and loveless Adam and Eve that get the headlines all the time.

It's not about marriage, it just shows that a man and a woman belong together, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman.
Of course if you dont believe that Adam and Eve ever existed... then that argument falls out of the sky dead.
