Re: The last movie you watched
I want to see Inception, I'll probably go see that this weekend. I thought Shutter Island was definitely one of the best movies in a long time, but I'm a big Martin Scorcese fan.

Re: The last movie you watched
Last night we had a red wine and movie marathon (and now I am feeling the effects - I don't know why I thought a martini was the best way to finish up after half a bottle of red wine). Eh-nee-way, we watched:
A Nightmare on Elm Street - the new one with Rorschach, it was ok
The Children - British horror flick, very per-sychological, very good
The Brave One - it was good and very moving, but I'm not quite sure I understand the point it was trying to make - or if I agree with it

Those kids were freaky. Low production but effective. Tried to do a similar sort of thing to something like Cabin Fever but worked so much better.BecMacFeegle wrote:The Children - British horror flick, very per-sychological, very good
Re: The last movie you watched
Just watched "Calendar Girls" on DVD over the weekend. It was okay... not going to make a best-of list, but okay.

Re: The last movie you watched
You guys need a sequel to the zombie movies they made over there. The next one can be called 28 Years Later.

Re: The last movie you watched
28 months later i think he intends to call the next one if it ever gets made. There is already a script.

I saw the first two (and own the 1st). I enjoyed them quite a bit.

Re: The last movie you watched
Yeah, they're really good. Its amazing how you can innovate on a budget though clearly the second film had a much bigger budget.
Re: The last movie you watched
That's what was cool about it. Romero's movies have a larger budget but the story always makes the show.
Plus, I like Brit accents.

Play Misty For Me (1971) Just bought a Clint Eastwood DVD movie pack and watched it. His first movie as a director, not bad...

Backstage Secrets” On the Road with the Rock Band RUSH
Skip Daly
Guitar International
This latest DVD release from Longtail Distribution promises to take the viewer “behind the scenes to get a backstage look at what it takes to present the legendary band Rush during their 2008 Snakes & Arrows Concert Tour. It may appear to be one of the most exciting and glamorous jobs in the world – but being a roadie with a top-rated world-famous rock and roll band can be a grueling marathon of 18 hour work days.”
The DVD delivers on its promise, but make no mistake – this is not just a release for fans of Rush. In fact, it is actually geared in a much more general way, and any fan of “arena rock” who has always wondered what is involved in large-scale concert production will thoroughly enjoy this DVD package.
Rush fans might even feel a tad disappointed, given the title of the release, as there are certainly no big “secrets” revealed about the band’s backstage activities. The real merit here lies in the detailed description of how a professional road crew delivers a large-scale show – day after day, in city after city.
Exploring everything from sound and lights to monitors and instrument maintenance, the dvd takes the viewer through a day in the life of a professional roadie, hour by hour.
While live music fans will likely find the level of detail interesting, with a run-time of 250 minutes, this is not a package for the light-hearted. (So, when we say “detail”, we mean DETAIL.)
This reviewer found the description of monitor mixes particularly fascinating, as it really delves into the customization of each band member’s personal stage mix. There is also some “human interest” in the storyline, as the documentary shatters any illusions one might have about the ‘glamorous’ life of a roadie, shedding light on the stark reality of how difficult and demanding the job truly is. These guys work their tails off, and often pay a heavy personal price for their nomadic existence.
Anyone who enjoys large-scale concerts will find this interesting. And anyone who has ever enjoyed a magical rock show experience will likely offer up a silent “thank you” to hard-working roadies everywhere after watching this dvd set.

The_Amber_Spyglass wrote:Well I saw Shutter Island yesterday. I'd give it 4.5/5.
Before that I saw Monsters vs Aliens on Friday. Very funny family film with a lot of homages to horror films. Similiar to The Incredibles, it is just as good as the Pixar film.
Another 4.5/5
I LOVED Shutter Island...it was filled with surprising twists to the end.

Way to take my advice, Tex.
Watch it, I promise you, you won't be disappointed! Leonardo DiCaprio is an excellent actor and Martin Scorsese one of the best directors of my time!

He plays a detective who's looking for a serial rapist/killer in New Orleans who's been raping and killing the very same hookers that he's been with and at the same time he's experiencing a identity crisis, it's one of his most different roles, filled. There's some dark and weird stuff and kinky sex in it. Here's a brief plot summary from imdb.com:
Wes Block is a detective who's put on the case of a serial killer. His victims are young and pretty women, which he rapes and murders. The murders are getting personal when the killer chooses victims who are acquaintances of Block. Even his daughters are threatened.

Thanks. I'll have to check that out. Clint is a brilliant actor and director.

Re: The last movie you watched
The LAST movie I watched was... um, Cannonball Run II or Gladiator. I forget which. The last NEW movie I watched was the most recent Pirates of the Caribbean installment.
I like SciFi and high adventure flicks. The Expendables and RED were two that I have revisited regularly.

I watched Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
I know I should touting my favor for hard core action or similar flicks, but my one guilty pleasure is a good romantic comedy - or even a not so good one if I like the actors...

I like Kurt's movies, Overboard isn't that bad, but I recommend seeing Breakdown (1997), that is my favorite movie of his.
